The Google review policy for businesses, in plain English

The Revivanda team7 min read

What Google actually allows, what it prohibits, and how to ask for reviews in a way that keeps your listing safe.

Google lets you ask customers for honest reviews. It does not let you selectively solicit only happy customers, offer incentives, or discourage negative reviews. Here is the practical version.

What is allowed

  • Asking customers to share a genuine experience, without incentives.
  • Providing a direct link or QR code to your review profile.
  • Reminding customers once, politely.

What is prohibited

  • Selectively inviting only satisfied customers to review.
  • Offering a discount, gift or refund in exchange for a review.
  • Discouraging or blocking negative reviews.

How Revivanda stays inside the lines

Open mode shows every customer the same screen after they rate: a private feedback form and your public review links. Everyone is invited the same way, and the settings screen links to each platform’s own policy so you can read it yourself.

Revivanda does not provide legal advice. When in doubt, read the policy and ask a professional.
